The Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, Ohene Gyan has openly criticized Hon. Ahenkwaa Yaw Fredrick, the Member of Parliament for the area. Gyan’s remarks come in the wake of allegations regarding the misuse of the Common Fund intended for the provision of portable water for the residents of Asoakor.
Gyan accused Hon. Fredrick of failing to effectively utilize the funds allocated by the assembly, which were designated to address the critical water needs of the Asoakor community. He emphasized that the constituents have been left without access to reliable drinking water, a basic necessity that should have been prioritized by their elected representative.
“The people of Asoakor deserve better,” Gyan stated. “We cannot sit back and allow our MP to mismanage resources that are meant to uplift our community. The funds provided were meant to ensure that every household has access to clean water, yet we see no improvement in the situation.”
The youth leader’s comments reflect a growing frustration among constituents who feel that their needs are being overlooked. Gyan called for accountability, urging the electorate to reconsider their support for Hon. Fredrick in the upcoming elections. He stressed the importance of holding leaders accountable for their actions and decisions that directly impact the lives of the people they serve.
“We need a representative who will prioritize the needs of the community and use the resources available to make a tangible difference,” Gyan added. “It is time for the people of Jaman North to demand better leadership and to vote out those who have failed to deliver on their promises.”
The response from the community has been mixed. Many residents echo Gyan’s sentiments, expressing disappointment in the lack of progress in addressing the water crisis. Others, however, remain supportive of the MP, citing his previous initiatives and community engagement efforts.
As the next elections approach, the situation in Asoakor is shaping up to be a critical point of discussion. Voters are increasingly aware of the importance of assessing their leaders not just on promises, but on their actual performance and commitment to serving the community.
The ongoing debate surrounding the management of the Common Fund and the provision of essential services like water highlights the need for vigilant and informed citizenship. As the Jaman North District prepares for the upcoming elections, the call for change resonates strongly among the youth and community leaders alike. The future of Asoakor may very well depend on the choices made by its voters in the near future.
