The Bono East Regional Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) staged a demonstration yesterday, voicing their concerns over alleged irregularities in the voter register. The event culminated in the handing over of a formal petition to the Bono East Regional Electoral Commission.
The demonstrators, consisting of party officials, supporters, and community members, marched through the streets of the regional capital, advocating for transparency and fairness in the upcoming December elections. The mood was both charged and hopeful, as participants chanted slogans emphasizing their commitment to a democratic process.
During the demonstration, the party's regional executives articulated their grievances regarding discrepancies they believe could affect the integrity of the electoral process. They called on the electoral commission to investigate these irregularities thoroughly and take corrective measures to ensure a fair voting environment.
“Today, we stand together to demand accountability and integrity in our electoral system,” stated the Bono East Regional Chairperson of the NDC. “We believe that every vote counts, and it is imperative that the voter register reflects the true will of the people.”
After the petition was submitted, the party leaders addressed the crowd, urging them to remain steadfast and courageous as the elections approach. They emphasized the importance of voting in large numbers to secure a victory for the NDC, encouraging participants to mobilize their communities and emphasize the significance of their votes.
“As we head towards December, let us be bold in our convictions,” The parliamentary candidate for Techiman South constituency Christopher Basonte Bayere declared. “We must ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear at the polls. Together, we can achieve the change we seek.”
